A Nissen fundoplication is a surgery to correct gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The surgery tightens the junction between the esophagus and the stomach to prevent acid reflux.
A Gallbladder surgery is most often used to treat gallstones and the complications they cause.
nguinal hernia surgery is an operation to repair a weakness in the abdominal wall that abnormally allows abdominal contents to slip into a narrow tube called the inguinal canal in the groin region.
A Nissen fundoplication is an operation to prevent acid reflux, where acid from your stomach travels up into your oesophagus (gullet). It involves wrapping the top part of your stomach around your oesophagus. For this reason, the operation is sometimes known as a 'wrap'.
For the first seven to 10 days after surgery, many surgeons will recommend a soft foods diet. Usually, you can return to usual activities and light exercise within a few days of surgery
Gallstones affect a significant number of people around the world, yet they often remain asymptomatic. Complications involving the liver or pancreas are uncommon but can occur in some cases. It's recommended that individuals experiencing symptoms related to gallstones undergo evaluation for potential surgery. Diabetic patients with gallstones are advised by some surgeons to consider surgery as a preventive measure against infection, irrespective of symptoms.
Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery has been a standard procedure for over 25 years. It utilizes small incisions (1/4 – ½") in the abdomen through which long, thin instruments are inserted to perform surgeries that traditionally required much larger incisions (6-12″ long). This minimally invasive approach has become the preferred method for gallbladder, appendix, colon, and other abdominal surgeries. During gallbladder surgery, typically four small incisions are made, and the gallbladder is extracted through the belly button incision.
An inguinal hernia occurs when the intestines and the peritoneum protrude through the muscles, creating a noticeable bulge beneath the skin. This condition poses risks as the hernia can progressively enlarge, potentially causing the intestine to become trapped within the bulge, leading to a loss of blood supply.
Inguinal hernia surgery addresses a structural weakness in the abdominal wall, where abdominal contents can protrude through the inguinal canal in the groin area. Surgery is often employed to correct inguinal hernias by repositioning the bulge and reinforcing the weakened abdominal wall. This procedure is typically advised in cases where the hernia causes discomfort, significant or persistent symptoms, or if serious complications arise.

“Very good before and aftercare. Lots of pre and post op information and support. Team were responsive to any issues that arose and made me feel safe. Each day that I was in hospital the team came to check on me (sometimes 3 times in a day), in addition to the core checks by the nurses. Pre and post op I was put in a WhatsApp group with the surgical team for additional and personal support. There was also a group for other post surgery people to support and uplift each other.
